Pope to make private visits in June

On Tuesday, 20 June 2017, the Holy Father, Pope Francis will make a pilgrimage to Bozzolo (in the Italian province of Mantova and the Diocese of Cremona) and to Barbiana (in the Italian province of Firenze) to pray at the tombs of Father Primo Mazzolari and Father Lorenzo Milani.

Departure by helicopter from the Vatican heliport

9:00am
Arrival at the Bozzolo sports field (Mantova)
The Holy Father will be welcomed by His Excellency, Antonio Napolioni, Bishop of Cremona and by the Mayor of Bozzolo

At the parish church of Saint Peter, His Holiness will pray at the tomb of Father Primo Mazzolari (1890-1959)

The Holy Father will hold a commemorative discussion with the faithful present in the church

Arrival at the church in Barbiana
The Holy Father will be welcomed by His Eminence, Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, Archbishop of Florence and by the Mayor of Vicchio (Florence)

Private visit to the cemetery and prayer at the tomb of Father Lorenzo Milani (1923-1967) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death

Inside the church, the Pope will meet with the disciples of Father Milani who are still living and briefly visit with the Canons

In the garden outside the church, the Holy Father will hold a commemorative discussion, in presence with the disciples of Father Milani as well as a group of priests from the Diocese and some young people who are guests in family homes (approximately 200 persons in total)
