At 5:35pm this afternoon (local time), the Holy Father, Pope Francis arrived in a helicopter at the Fátima Stadium. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by the Bishop of Leiria-Fátima, His Excellency, António Augusto dos Santos Marto and by the Mayor of the city.
He then travelled by car to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fátima where, at 6:15pm, he paid a visit to the Chapel of the Apparitions where there were approximately 1,000 children gathered. The Holy Father was welcomed there by the Rector of the Shrine. The Pope paused in silent prayer before the statue of Our Lady and then spoke the words of the following prayer.
At the conclusion of his prayer, Pope Francis presented a Golden Rose as a gift to the Virgin of Fátima and, after the final blessing, he travelled by car to the House of Nossa Senhora do Carmo where he will stay tonight.

As a pilgrim of the Light that comes to us from your hands,

and tell the mysteries of Christ in order to obtain peace.
