In gratitude for the pilgrimage

Earlier this morning, as is his custom, Pope Francis went to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome to present a bouquet of white roses as a thanksgiving offering to the Blessed Virgin.

He placed the flowers in front of the icon of Mary, Salus Populi Romano.

During his visit to the Basilica, Pope Francis remained in silent prayer before the image of the Virgin for more than twenty minutes.
