During the flight to Portugal

Aboard the flight this afternoon which took him to Fátima (Portugal) for the Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fátima on the occasion of the centenary of the first Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Cova da Iria, Pope Francis held his usual visit and greetings with the representatives of the media who are accompanying him on the papal voyage.

Introduced by a few words offered by the Director of the Holy See Press Centre, Mister Greg Burke, the Pope then offered a few words to the journalists.

Transcription of the Holy Father's words
offered to journalists aboard the papal flight
from Rome to Mont Reale (Portugal)

Greg Burke:
Thank you, Holy Father.  Good afternoon.  It has been two weeks since our last voyage: a very different trip.  Normally, when people travel with the Pope, we say: We are praying for you.  This time, on our way to Fátima, everyone has said: Pray for us, because this is Fátima.  There are some new journalists, because there is a good number of Portuguese this time, and I must tell you that this is a moment of greeting, not a moment for stories about life, death and miracles.  We must respect the Holy Father's time: a little time for eating, some time for resting ...  I would imagine also some time for prayer ... Thank you.

Holy Father:
Good afternoon and thank you for your company, as well as for the work you are doing on this trip: work which, as Greg has said, is a bit special.  This is a voyage of prayer, of encounter with the Lord and with the Holy Mother of God.
Thank you for your company; let us be on our way.
