Yesterday, the Holy Father, Pope Francis received in audience the Bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Quebec (AEQ) who are in Rome for their Visit ad limina apostolorum.
Like the visits already accomplished by the Bishops of Atlantic Canada, Western Canada and those from Ontario, the Quebec Bishops' visit was filled with exceptional moments such as the visit with the Pope and with some of the members of the Roman Curia (which took place last week).
At the end of their encounter, Pope Francis encouraged the entire Church in Quebec to Get up, go, make yourselves close, especially to the little ones and to the poor, welcome and accompany those who are seeking meaning in their lives; allow and encourage encounters with the risen Jesus ... The Bishops concelebrated Mass with the Pope in the chapel at the Casa Santa Marta and also celebrated Masses inside Saint Peter's Basilica as well as the other major basilicas in an atmosphere of mutual friendship and fraternity.
Even while in Rome, the Bishops are acutely aware of the flooding that continues to affect many of the people entrusted to their pastoral care. Together they continue to pray for all those who are facing the uncertainty that is the result of such tragedy.
