Itinerary for Assisi

This morning, the Holy See Press Office issued the itinerary for the Holy Father's private visit to Assisi which will take place on Thursday, August 4 of this year.

Departure by helicopter from the Vatican

Arrival at the Migaghelli sports field at Santa Maria degli Angeli (Assisi)

The Holy Father will be welcomed by:
His Excellency, Domenico Sorrentino, Archbishop-Bishop of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino
The Honourable Catiuscia Marini, President of the Region of Umbria
Doctor Raffaele Cannizzaro, Prefect of Perugia
Doctor Stefania Proietti, Mayor of Assisi

Transfer by car to the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels

When he arrives at the Basilica, the Holy Father will be welcomed by:
Father Michael Anthony Perry, Minister General of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor
Father Claudio Durighetto, Provincial Minister
Father Rosario Gugliotta, Custos of the Porziuncola

Inside the Basilica, there will be a
Moment of silent prayer inside the Porziuncola, and a
Meditation by the Holy Father based on the parable of the unmerciful servant (Mt 18:21-35)

Inside the Franciscan Convent, the Pope will greet the Bishops in attendance and the Superiors General of the Franciscan Order.  In addition, in the infirmary, His Holiness will meet sick members of the Order along with those who are caring for them

In the courtyard outside the Basilica, the Holy Father will greet the faithful
