At 4:00pm local time (11:00am EDT), the Holy Father, Pope Francis paid a visit to the offices of Scholas Occurentes located in the San Calisto Palace in Rome. There, he officially launched the international project entitled Planning for Peace in company with computer experts.
The object of this initiative is to sensitize millions of young people to learn how to plan and to use new technologies with an ethical perspective and by committing themselves to the search for peace.
During the meeting, Pope Francis inaugurated the Scholas Technological Hub located in their new Panama office.
In addition, the Holy Father spoke by videoconference with young people from the three new offices of Scholas in Panama, Portugal and Romania and met with a few students who have participated in sports, arts and technological programmes.
The Scholas Occurentes Foundation, an international organization created by Pope Francis on 13 August 2018, is present in 190 countries and currently is the largest student movement in the world. The Foundation's fundamental objective is the promotion of a culture of peace and encounter and includes schools and education networks belonging to all religious confessions and lay realities, both public and private.
