Greetings for the visitors from Trento

At 12:10pm local time (7:10am EDT), in the Clementine Hall at the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father, Pope Francis received in audience a delegation from the Commune of Trentino led by His Excellency, Lauro Tisi, Archbishop of Trentino.

Greetings of His Holiness, Pope Francis
offered to the visitors from Trento

Dear brothers and sisters,

I am pleased to welcome you, representatives from the community from Trento, who for the past twenty years have generously collaborated with the Holy See, especially with the Governatorate of the Vatican City State in various activities and initiatives.  I think in particular of the various associations, companies and families from the Communes of Carisolo, Pinzolo, Tesero, and from the Alpini, the Forestry Corps and the Civil Protection.  To each of you I offer a cordial greeting, beginning with Doctor Ugo Rossi, President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, your Archbishop, Lauro Tisi, who I thank for his courteous words, and all of you who, with your presence, bear witness to the devotion and affection of the entire population of Trento for the Pope.

Our meeting offers me an opportunity to express my gratitude for your commitment and concrete support for various projects, aimed especially at offering welcome to pilgrims and visitors here in the Vatican.  With your support, you express the traditional values of faith, hard work and solidarity that are so rooted in your land.  There is great need in these times for people who know how to bear courageous testimony to the moral values that are taught by the gospel!

I encourage you to continue in your efforts to spread the culture of acceptance and to provide a model for life that is open and fraternal, in harmony with our dignity as children of God.  May your families be true domestic churches, founded on the Word of God, on love for the Church and formed in service to life.  In this way, they will become schools of human and Christian values for the new generations.  Generously spread the gospel seeds of charity in the places where Providence may call you to work.

Dear friends, this stop in the heart of Christianity will help you to deepen your faith and to prepare yourselves with fervour for Easter that is drawing ever closer.  I entrust you and your families to the maternal intercession of Mary, the Mother of the Church and, while I ask you to pray for me, I impart my Apostolic blessing.  Thank you.
